Anything unusual happen when you push the DoF preview button to stop it down to test the aperture control mechanics? If it doesn't show any effect on the images and the metering/aperture control is working fine, it remains a conundrum, but not too critical ?
Already tried that, and nope. Nothing unusual. Yup, i guess it's not too critical

Does it show up on the LCD in Liveview? I assume not, but just thought I'd ask.

Can you take two images of the same scene with full manual exposure, and only change the aperture from 2.8 to 4 between the two images? And then post the images here?

Done that too already, but as far as i can tell, nothing unusual either despite on f2.8, obviously lots more vignetting going on than on f4, which is normal i believe..

That sounds normal, and the f/4 image should be darker when the same shutter speed and ISO is used in M mode.
We do encourage posting images also when you don't see anything special, becuase others may see something that you don't notice, or more likely, can interpret what they see in ways none of us had thought of..
