Dang, Amazon just cancelled my pre-order fo the 600 II (I chose Amazon because they were taking pre-orders at the old $12k price). Maybe I'll just stick with my 1D4 + old 500 for my super telephoto needs...
A few days ago I had to go to Canon for some gear servicing, and while chatting with them, I tried in a rather innocent and casual way to get some indication of the 500II and 600 II release timeframe. Mind you, I didn't even imply that there had been delays or anything of the sort.
Their reaction was surprisingly defensive, as they bagan talking about the natural disasters that struck Japan and Canon last year etc. Obviously, I somehow touched a raw nerve, besides, they must get that sorta questioning a lot these days. Nothing new learned.
What I do find quite odd is the April 2011 release date for 500/600 II which B&H has on their website, in the absence of any Canon's published info to that effect.

My pre-order with Amazon just got cancelled, too. I wonder how much of it has to do with having ordered at the original $11,999 price? Did anyone out there with a pre-order at the $12,999 price get cancelled?
