What a horrible way to go....and what a great documentary of the brutality of life. I keep thinking what it would be like to be eaten alive and and have absolutely no defense against it. Wow. Great set and great story!

During the latter stages of the dry season with grazing quality poor, a lot of buffalo's aren't in top shape.
Stuck in the mud or not, they both would have met their fate for waiting in the wings were the 3 large pride males who
were on standby if things got really difficult.

The worst I ever see are eagles eating fish, but that doesn't compare with this. Here you have a marvelous sequence of pictures, and what is probably a once in a lifetime experience.
