p.3 #1 · Why are people rushing to sell their 5D MkII's ?
I've seen a bunch of sales on 5d mkII since december, one was for a refurb body for 1750, and the kit for 2500. I guess everyones trying to make a buck before the predict mkiii comes out. Either way, the 5d mkii is still amazing. People complain about its focusing and such, but still they continue to shoot with it.

There are a very large number of 5D MK II's now out there. They have been out for over three years. That means we will see them up for sale as owners sell them for whatever reason. The larger the number of cameras out there, the larger the number that pop up for sale.

1. because they never used them
2. because itīs meanwhile cheaper to by a new one
3. because they know something we do not know?
4. I do not know. Is it so? Most asked used prices I saw are a joke compared to my gear shops offer.
@ Gregger:
Where did you get a 1D IV for the price of a used 5D2?

Because the 8D is soon to be announced. That camera will be the marriage of the 5D and the mythical 3D with user interchangeable lens mounts to allow full feature set functionality of Canon, Nikon, and Leica lenses without adapters. FF, 29mp sensor, 7.2 FPS, 1DX focusing system, and a bunch of other goodies. The coolest part that I have seen though is the reversible grip that allows lefties to hold a camera naturally for the very first time.

I think you misunderstood my post. I didn't get one for the same price. I had to add cash!

I'm glad I was able to get a deal on a 5D2 with the Christmas sales (as well as the 70-200 IS II and 50 1.2L). Love the setup. when the 5D3 comes out, I will upgrade for sure.
That is because his right hand is busy doing other things.
People need to lay off the slagging off the 5D Mark II. It takes fantastic shots and I am sure the newer version will take equally fantastic shots...just like the the Nikon does. I will still be keeping my Mark II after I purchase the new version because it is a good camera coupled with good lenses.

Why people buy camera gear new I will never be able to figure out.
To be sure where it's from and how it's been treated.
I don't want to turn up at someones wedding with a second hand body that is on it's last legs and not know it when the difference in price is only a few hundred dollars.

Canon has a "X" theme on at the moment
The 8D was finished before the X theme was started [there are about 130,000 of them in secret storage bunkers awaiting the (delayed yet again) launch date.]
But marketing is now all over the multiplication theme and the next camera will merge the smooth handling of the 7D with the full frame of the 5D and become the 35DD. I must say that I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on that body.
