Ralph, everyone knows of your subjective, baseless, one-sided stance in regards to Nikon vs. Canon; I'm not sure why you try to hide it (especially since you state you're a fanboi all by yourself). As for my question, yes you did answer it for me and, believe it or not, it was what I was expecting to hear from you. It really has nothing to do with what I wanted to hear, more so with the fact that it's ridiculous. At the end of the day, the world still turns and my making a living using non-professional outdated cameras, as you call them, progresses ...Show more →
You seem not to know of my subject. - I did not make any non-pro outdated camera issues. That is your idea. In my world each camera that helps one to achive pictures he/she wants to make or even sell is a pro. Nikon is great! I never made any else statement. They just did never support my needs.
In DSLR. I remember to the F5. I shot with it and it was amazing. In digital Nikon always was way behind Canon and imo still is. This is MY opinion and MY experience from the last decade. Can this be okay for you? It just means, that your needs fullfiled by Nikon are not mine?
I expected nothing else hearing from you, too.
But I can tell you: I will be the first one, who switches lines, if Nikon supports my needs and I can pay the price. So long they do not, let me just be a Canon fanboy as long Canon does. I let you be a Nikonian one, too.
In my opinion itīs not the gear that makes anybody a photographer. Nikon gear is great and would deliver my needs in 60-70%. Doing a pro job. But I do not like the idea to invest in another system to get the missing 30-40%. I am looking for ONE camera that gives me the freedom to have 90-95% done. Professional like as a hobby. Maybe it is to much, what I expect.
D4 (right now?) could have been this camera. If they would have enhanced ISO. What Nikon was not able to do (if, they would have done). 1D X might be that camera, if their promises came out as the truth and I can afford it.
Itīs that easy. We do not have to fight against each other caused by gear. My photographic behavior and needs may be different from yours. And may be supported by a different manufacturer than your favourite one.
If yo are happy, I am fine. If you feel, you have to convince me I only can be happy with your choice, I am not. But I want to be happy, too. And I do not care about your wishes, if that means, I can not choose whatever I want to, to feel good. Itīs that easy. If Nikon gives me a body, I want, I will purchase it. And I will find a solution for my missing favorite lenses (taht is another part. What I need and like to use in lenses is not offerd by your favorite. Or if in lower quality or/and much more expensive). If they do not, I will stay with the company that does. A rebirth of Minolta would be great for me.
In my whole life I have taken pictures with maybe 35 different cameras from Hasselblad, Leica, Mamiya, Sinar, Kosmos, Kodak, Porst, Cosina, Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax, Minolta, Revue, Panasonic, Fuji, Apple, Motorola, etc., etc., etc. ...
I am 50 years old now. And started shooting since I was 16. Is it really a problem for you that I decided for my needs their is no better choice than the actual Canon 5D MK II? Because still no other manufacturer offers what I need? (D800 is still a rumor).
Beleive me: If Nikon offers a 5D MK II like camera tomorrow at 2 stops further high ISO at a price I can afford (Canon 5D MK II level +/- 500$) it will be mine. I will buy it immediatelly even it would not have a thump scroll, one of the the best tools I ever used on any camera (sorry, that is MY reality, too). But I am able to learn how to use worse gear if the result forces me to do. I did many times in my life.
I am happy, that you are succesfull in your business. And that Nikon supports your needs.
I would like, if you could do/be the same with me. If not, you might ask yourself, if you are happy or if you just talk about beeing it ... than I do not care about.
