I'm sure they'll lure customers in with the $99 price point, though.
Aperture is $79.99 at the Apple Ap Store, so the $99 price for AfterTaste Pro (or whatever the heck Corel is calling it) is nothing special.
Still, I would be delighted if Corel -- or some other software maker -- would really challenge Adobe in the photo editing realm. Without competition, Adobe will continue to put the screws to their customers, as evidenced by their recent decision regarding PS upgrades.
Bibble 5.x is simply the worst of the PP programs I've ever tried, although for a ew years I enjoyed using 4.x. Downloaded the Corel version a few days ago, and all the issues Bibble 5.x had are still readily apparent. If that's the best Corel can offer, Adobe and Apple have little to worry about. I'll bet Corel got Bibble at a bargain basement price, though.

There's apparently been something of a climb-down with regard to the new PS upgrade introduction, with the three version policy being extended to CS6. Evidence here.
Just as an after thought, I just took a quick at the trial and it doesn't seem to support dng files which are in integral part of my workflow so this is a now starter. As dng is an open standard it's unbelievable that it is not supported, even by a company as out of touch as Corel.

+1
Remember the early days of Nikon Capture and the limited set of enhancements therein? At that time Bibble offered much more regarding RAW files and the interface was pretty good, too. But today, Nikon NX2 and ACR totally outshine Bibble in every area, IMHO.
Just as a note, Adobe have made the 3 version for the Creative Suite Only. If you have just a single product then the sigle prior version is required. I am currently using Aperture and love it. There is no reason to even try the Corel product.
If you are on a Mac then there is always Pexelmator. Very similar to Photoshop, not quite as powerful but only $59.
