p.1 #1 · Aperture not playing well with 60D - magenta cast RAW
Not often a poster here, but I really need some help.
I just got an iMac27, and have installed Aperture 3.2.2. This is a 1-2 punch for me, as I'm a first time Mac user and also have only used DPP for PP.
My camera is a Canon 60D, and I'm shooting RAW (full resolution) and JPEG.
When I import my files to Aperture, the RAW's are coming in with a constant magenta cast. (Independent of lens, lighting, WB, anything.) This is especially noticeable with red items; they appear hot pink / magenta. I've been totally unsuccessful trying to counter with Aperture presets.
Some additional facts;
I uploaded DPP to the iMac. Reds look correct; RAW & JPEG.
JPEG in Aperture looks correct.
When I PP in DPP from RAW to a new JPEG, it looks correct.
When I PP in Aperture from RAW to a new JPEG, it looks wrong.
Samples... (Sorry -- lame scene, but it really captures the problem well.)

Is there a set of Presets that will get me over this hump?

What "Shooting profile" do you use in the camera?
If you use "portrait", "standard" or something similar it will affect contrast, saturation and tint in the JPG and flag the raw file with this metadata - DPP will take this metadata and apply it to the RAW, Aperture won't - Raw is True Raw in aperture.
I use a 5dii and shoot in "faithful" mode - I get a pretty WYSIWYG comparison between aperture and my 5d previews.
I know that Nikon files shift blue and green a bit in aperture so one option (a preset you could make if you wish to auto apply on import) would be to use the color brick to shift the hue of red slightly away from blue.
I am curious though, if you use the white balance eyedropper and select the gray "water filter" on the toy fridge, does the color cast go away?

Thanks for the reply. The above sample is with Standard. However both Faithful and Neutral yield similar results. WB and tone adjustments just seem to wonk-out other colors in the pictures, if I am able to gain any ground on correcting the reds.
I did load a trial version of LR3 last night. I behaves similarly to DPP. ...So disappointing; I was really looking forward to AP3. I pray there's still hope!

If you care about colour, don't use Aperture to process your images - period. With some cameras, it's so "not very good" that it borders on useless.
This would be ok if they included some more advanced colour processing that you could include in a preset, but they don't. I wouldn't get my hopes up for AP3 either, it's simply not in their priorities. Are there any special reasons for you wanting to use Aperture?

My results have been quite the opposite actually regarding aperture and color accuracy - primarily with the 5dii. It's odd that you're having issues with the 60d.
