Damn you ebh you beat me to it.

I wanted to be the first to go "how's this canon related".

So bah I'm "first" at being second. Thanks!

Oh and given how far off our calendars may be, I'm celebrating new years when I feel like it. I'm thinking Wednesday of next week.

We are Canon shooters most here, right? I think it´s nice one time less to discuss gear, competing gear and rumors. Even I do not know one of you in person - I found out, there are many of you I would love to meet personally.
So why not, wishing you and all of us a great, healthy and successfull new year full of beautiful moments, pleasure and love? And beside that, great shots and the gear everybody wishes.

Considering how many times the world has "ended" before now, I find it remarkable that it seems to still be in existence.

Regardless, I'm planning my equipment investments for 2013 and 14.

Given the huge number of "End of the world" predictions that have been made in the last few years, and since we're still here, I think the odds are pretty good that we'll see 2012, 2013, and more to follow.

Some people give more weight to the Mayan calendar ending than to the predictions of self-proclaimed prophets, but they shouldn't. They should do what one always does when a calendar runs out: start over at day one on the next cycle.

Haha! Well it's not like I'm planning on doomsday myself; my new years resolution was to finally buy a couple new bodies this year, because the ancient 1Ds3 and 5D2 are getting a bit too old in the tooth

You can buy those from me once I have the 1DX and 5D3

Actually they are the longest serving digital cameras I've ever had...

Its just a rumor, right? As far as I remembered that was already speculated for 2011.

I have never heard the 2011 variant, but then again I get my news and facts from movies such as 2012 and not from Der Spiegel

Das habe ich befürchtet. Dein Deutsch ist ausgezeichnet. Aber "Witz" ist ein Substantiv und wird groß geschrieben. Und in Erwartung einer 5D MK III und 1D X in diesem Jahr ist der Neujahrswunsch natürlich Themenbezogen für ein Canon Forum.

There was a "preacher" who predicted the end of the world or the Second Coming or some such several times in 2011. Each time it didn't happen, he said he had made a "calculating error" and moved the date.

My iPhone ist nicht gut.

I was trying to type it all out and it autocorrects the heck out of me.

Though I do remember (now that you point it out to me) my home room teacher in 8th grade saying something about that. I had a German speaking teacher (not class) in 8th grade. I'm 29 now.

I really wish I had a full understanding of my German. I had the teacher help me with it, so I could understand bands like "Oomph!" and "Megaherz" when they sang in German.
