so thats what 30cm from the lens or so hand held with no need for strobes to provide enough light and your getting over 3:1 . powerful piece of kit really.
MFD of the 105mm/2.8 with the V1 is below 20 cm, so you get better enlargement. I did not use the combo handheld, but at a well balanced tripod head to be flexible and fast. Can't wait to do it handheld when there is enough light out there.
it appears to be really nice step up from P&S but i would still wish they did it AFTER they released their variation of large sensor compact.
telephoto (especially at this quality) and macro doesnt appeal to me. we could get this kind of performance (or better) already from micro four thirds for sometimes less moneys.
In the end you gain nothing (resolution, AF, price, size) over D7000 and cropping in post.
interesting... about what i would suspect details are about same which will even more pronounce when higher ISO will be used.
maybe some daylight shot would be better though as i suspect some little movement in the D7000 shot.
to say the truth the dynamic range of V1 is very nice. Nikon sure did try hard. Too bad they did not put this kind of effort into something more appealing to portrait people like me
Thanks for showing this. The cropped D7000 shot and V1+FT1 is a very interesting comparison for me with as I have FX and DX cameras. The V1 is definitely better, but perhaps not so much as to warrant the cost.
Roughly what size image in pixels would the D7000 file end up as to get the same crop factor as the V1+ FT1?
