They only offer the 15x10" book with Faux leather, and I wanted the biggest possible.

GORGEOUS is a relative term, have any pictures of it?

I'm still happy and still not sharing the price, if you wan't to find out, register. Lets just say I'm not and never will be a paid photographer.

I have already delivered it to my client. It was 100 pages and (with my coupon code) cost just over $100 shipped.

Size was 11.5 x 15

Like I said, I have seen both up close and personal multiple times.

If I had to quantify it, I would say that the Asuka Book is probably double the quality (and that is being quite generous).

So, if it costs more than $200, it is probably not worth it, comparatively (IMO, of course).

BUT, the FAUX leather would be a deal breaker for me. I cannot believe that they could charge you that much and not use REAL leather.

YMMV of course.

(I am still puzzled about you protecting the price, though, if it were me, I would be happy to share with my fellow FM'ers)

I'm puzzled that you don't understand why someone WOULDN'T divulge the price of a vendor who has specifically stated that their price protection purposes are to help protect the photographers they serve.

If you are sellling their product (or any product) at retail ... do you really want others to go around telling what your costs are? While it is true that we are mostly photographers here ... a Google search by ANYONE for "AsukaBook Price" and you'll get this thread amongst the results. This is NOT a secure forum to photographers only.

Here's a link that is also returned by the same search ... albeit quite a bit dated ... that does make some reference to pricing.
(You'll have to type in the last part "$3127" of the link.)

http://www.imaginginfo.com/web/online/News/AsukaBook-Launches-Three-Custom-Products/3$3127

Most of us would appreciate the helpfulness of sharing the information with fellow FM members ... and I'm sure the OP does have the spirit of sharing info with us. But there are also those fellow members who could be hurt by divulging such information into the public domain. IMO, it is for BOTH the protection of the vendor and for the protection and respect for fellow FM members that it is proper to NOT DIVULGE wholesale pricing information that has clearly been safeguarded ... particularly when the vendor has so clearly stated their policy is for protecting photographers.

Registration was not that tough ... I think that putting forth a little effort individually (which BTW, was less than the effort of this thread) to safeguard fellow FM'ers is very much in keeping with the spirit of FM'ers respecting and regarding fellow FM'ers.

Really, Greg, read the thread.

Google will find this thread and that's what Asuka (and the people who sell Asuka books) don't want to have happen.

fair enough. I didn't realize that it was a formal policy from Asuka, just thought they didn't list it.

I understand the OP's stand on the issue
