You can fit the newer LX SC 69 screen into the MX, with no problems, I've done it - it's the same as changing any mx screen. Unfortunately, although it is brighter in the centre, it vignettes radically. I find it almost unusable, and reverted to the duller, but more evenly lit original mx screen. A real pity, since, if it worked as it does in the LX it would make the mx into a much better camera, with much more effective focus pop.
If weight and price are not a problem, the Nikon F6 probably has the most accurate meter I have ever owned. Plus AF is really fast and accurate. If you don't want to spend that much, the Nikon F100 is really good. Plus with the Nikons there are a ton of lenses available at reasonable prices. The F6 can even meter with the old AI and AIS lenses. Just don't try to put a pre AI lens on it if it is not altered to take it.
Leica R9; for the same reason I'd drive a '67 Cobra: I put a lot of weight on design
EDIT: ...and the Rollei 3003, probably the most fun system I got to use in the 80's.

I have five models from the Contax RTS system. The slow-speed escapement of an S2 sounds sweet, but my overall favorite is the Aria: a really practical SLR of diminutive size and weight.
I like your style. Aria & 50 1.7 is lovely. Great modern tech. Small. Light. Quiet. Design similar to my G2. B&W in one and colour in the other.
I love my digital cameras, but not one of them has matched the feel of the better film bodies.
