And those are just the ones I'm vaguely familiar with... there must be dozens more.

A smart choice....I'd go for 50 f/1.0L too, as opposed to one of them Noctilux lenses.
I'd categorize the 50 f/1.0L as a character lens, having used copies a few brief times... The amazing thing though about the Nocti, and definitely the 50 Lux ASPH, is they're actually sharp wide open, without a ton of SA glow, but just enough to fend off harshness. The 50 f/1.0Ls that I've had a chance to try were all quite glowy.
I'm pretty happy with my current set-up of various lenses for my Canon bodies, totalling 18 right now. Breakdown is like this: Regular EF -- 3, "L" -- 5, Zeiss -- 4, Leica -- 1, Samyang -- 3, Nikon AIS -- 2.
There are four that I would like to add to the collection:
Am I the only one that if I had so many lenses I would end up confused about what to use all the time and never master any of them therefore making my photos suck even more than currently?
dimitris -- I suppose it could be confusing, but I look at it as always something "new" to experience. I like the challenge of pulling out a lens and taking it on an adventure. (I seldom carry more than three lenses.)
Then there is the old saying about the right tool for the job. I don't always use a fish-eye or Tilt/Shift, or even a macro. But good to know they are there. Sometimes you only have one choice for the job at hand and use it. I don't know if you can have too many lenses or camera bodies, unless they aren't being used, and mine are all intended to be users, not trophies. Same goes for multiple camera bodies -- different types for different approaches.
