Been merrily using Portfolio for iPad (http://ipadportfolioapp.com/) for the last 6 months or so without problems. Recently, it started crashing on loading. This was prior to upgrading to iOS 5.
I recently upgraded to iOS 5 (I have an iPad 1) and thought the problem had gone away. It seemed to load correctly. However, last night I found that it does actually crash within 1 minute of use. I found this out during a client consultation. Not good. Restarting the iPad, force quitting the app and reloading, nothing solved the problem. Any ideas on how to fix this would be MUCH appreciate. I have a consult tonight and I need the bugger to work.
I'm considering deleting the app and starting again, but that will take significant time in reloading the thousands of images I have in the programme.
Thoughts on the back of a postcard gratefully received!
Deleting the app and starting over is probably going to be about the extent of your options.
I haven't used Portfolio for iPad, but check in iTunes on your computer to see if it shows anything under File Sharing in the iPad's Apps settings. You might be able to at least grab the "recipe" for your portfolios and save yourself some time on the reload.
you can do a backup of your portfolio files before deleting and reinstalling. Might want to check their website to see if iOS 5 is a know issue with their app.
Find anything? Been trying to get mine to load all day, no luck. Been using for a year with only minor glitches. I have an appt. in 2.5 hours that I'll have to cancel if no fix. So frustrating!
I sent the developer the crash reporter logs. He says he's looking into it. I'd do the same if I were you. As for a solution, none yet. What you can do, is load everything into iPhoto, make galleries using albums, order by file name (rather than capture time) and sync those albums. It's a poor, but passable fix for the time being. Booked a wedding that way last night.
Thanks, Tony. This has me so frustrated. I am using an app called Stash which seems to work fairly well, but my hangup is with clients I've already met with, starred their choices (I'm a senior port photog and have set up the Portfolio star system to correspond with my packages), but now can't access those images to know what to order. I will be sending the developer a crash report tomorrow.
I had a tweet from the developer yesterday saying he'd pinned it down and was looking at implementing an update in the near future. Sooner the better from my point of view, but great to see that he's been working on the issue.
