p.1 #1 · canon vs usa warranty

Hi there
I'm from Canada.
i'm trying to sell a new Canon body. The main question that comes around is;
-"Does the 1 year warranty is good for USA?"

On the warranty sheet itself, its written:
"Canon Eos Digital Camera and Accessories Limited Warranty-
For USA & Canada Only"

Does anyone knows if this warranty are transferable
or good in both countires, no matter where the camera where purchased?

thanks
Jean-Yves

In the US (unless you are a dealer) you are the original purchaser and the warranty does not transfer to the second buyer. I assume it is the same in Canada, but in any case if you sold it in the US the buyer has no warranty with Canon.

It's the same as if a person in the US sold to a person in the US or Canada to Canada. The warranty is technically not transferred so anybody buying should expect no warranty. However, I've never personally had canon refuse to do warranty work on that basis.

here's the comment I was waiting for. thank you kh.

Canon Canada told me the same. Technically, Canada warranty is good for CAN.
and US warranty is good for USA.
But I used to send a camera to Canon; I was not the original owner, and Canon Canada didn't ask for my receipt or else. The camera was still on warranty.
