p.1 #1 · Anyone Using Pocketwizard Powertracking for Arena Strobes?

So I just picked up my first Einstein along with the Pocketwizard MC2 to trigger it and have a pair of MiniTT1's that I am using on the pair of my D700's to fire the flash units.

I am specifically going to be using my Einsteins in a 5,000 seat arena and will be picking up another 3-5 to place in the rafters to strobe hockey using these PocketWizard triggers to fire them.

I also have 3 Multimax triggers that I will be using to "assist" in making sure that I don't have misfires and also so that way everything is all in sync.

My main question and concern is specifically about possibly using the Powertracking feature and if it would be a decent option for this setup.

I understand the concept of using the feature although it seems to be a function that is best suited for studios with static objects instead of moving subjects.

But, IM thinking that what I might be able to do is take a Multimax trigger along and figure out what possible exposure I would want by firing the strobes and taking my readings from that "Centerpoint".

Then what that setting I could go off of the "Centerpoint" and adjust accordingly using that with the strobes.

My only issue really is the fact that if I don't dial them in then I might drop down my Ws power too low to stop action?

Any thoughts on this possibility and if It would or wouldn't work in my setup?

As a note, the lower the power of the Einsteins the faster the t.1 time of the strobe. Which is opposite of most strobes (e.g. AlienBees, White Lighting, and others).

So stopping action improves as you lower the power. Of course if you get to the point where the ambient starts intruding that will interfere with stopping action. Maybe that is what you meant.
