p.1 #1 · RRS L-Plate with Markins QR (lever type)?
so i have an RRS-L plate for my a900 and I was planning on getting an RRS QR w/lever (LRII) and attaching it to a markins Q10 ballhead, but I saw that Q10 could be ordered with a markins QR with lever, which had an adjustment screw to accomodate various widths of plates.
Do you think there would be any compatibility issues with this QR and my RRS L-plate?
I know the width of the clamp could be adjusted but would the thickness of the plate fit perfectly?
I do have another camera with a markins plate so I thought it would be wiser to get the adjustable markins QR (even though I won't be using that camera for tripod work that much), also since I might get a different camera down the road and buy a markins or a different brand plate.
I'm debating because I read that RRS QR does not fit other brand plates perfectly.

the answer is yes. BUT! remember due to the differences in manufacturing from one maker to another the tolerances may vary. RRS and Wimberley use the same exacting tolerances so going back and forth from either of these plates will not be an issue once you have dialed in your clamp.
reference the statement from Markins about the use of multimaker plates with their clamp. and i quote from the page you referenced:
"Note: We recommend the lever style release only if one has plates from single maker. It is known that different brands have different sizes of Arca-Swiss style plates. Though Markins' lever release quickshoe is adaptable to accommodate different brands of plates, it won't be practical to do so in the field with mixed brands of plates. We strongly recommend to use a single brand of plates with this lever release quickshoe. With mixed brands of plates, the traditional screw-knob style quickshoe will be more flexible."
i run completely with RRS plates for a good reason. the reason for choosing was simple. they offer the most varied, usable and complete choice of AS plate based components out with the overall best designs that will fit any other AS based clamp out there at this point.

At one time you could order the Markins without a clamp, then install the RRS. Thats what I did when RRS first came out with the lever clamp. Bodies have always had RRS plates, only lens different was the 500 with a Nature Scapes (?) plate and it to worked well with the RRS QR clamp.

No problem with my Markins ballhead with the exactly same plate that I sold you

I have the QL-60 and use with Markins lens plates, RRS L bracket and a Kirk L bracket. Everything works fine with no adjustment needed between them.

Correct, and it almost certainly won't like your Markins plate. You'll be OK with the Markins QL-60 though. I really like Markins screw clamps and have used them for years with a variety of plates with absolutely no problems. I use Markins clamps on my Arca-Swiss, Linhof and Markins ballheads and recommend them.

I have a Markins QR head that I use without any adjustments with Kirk L-clamp, a variety of RRS plates, and even a generic plate or two. The warnings from RRS, while technically true, are for most practical purposes a CYA. Sure, if you buy a no-name plate from eBay it may not work. I have yet to see anyone post here or elsewhere of an interchangeability problem between the major brands.
