My Contax 50/1.7 had the small fin on it and hit the mirror on my 5D2. I use the AF confirm adapters from HappyPageHK on most C/Y lenses. The mirror collision issue was easily fixed by shaving down the fin with a Dremel tool.
Excellent lens with great performance stopped down and very good sharpness stopped down with some loss of contrast and a bit of color change (which I can only describe as a pastel color palette).
Here you can see where the mirror hung on my 5DII - rubmarks are at the top, away from the fin. Taking off a bit of material solved the problem for me.
Please don't mind the grime on the glass, it's all clean now
Oh AhamB, I think we know the same person with the Planar HFT 50mm/1.4 and a 195 Euro damage on the EOS 5D.
I lost my EOS 5D mirror during tests with the converted FD 24/1.4L - the mirror crashes (I had that ~50-200 times before with different lenses), and the mirror was no longer attached.
This was the start of my 100% silver mirror project.100% silver mirror project.
EOS R is out anyone here tried Contax 1.7/50 + Fotodiox c/y to EF adapter + Canon EF to RF adapter + EOS R?
or you guys went straight Contax 1.7/50 + C/Y to RF adapter + EOS R?
just asking... a while back with 5d, 5d2, 5d3 bodies the c/y 1.7/50 adapted is always hitting the mirror., now with a thick adapter there's a plenty of space for the contax fins to work on.
In a related vein, I've recently been using my C/Y 50/f1.7 lens with an adapter on my (DIY modified full-spectrum) Samsung NX500 for IR photography (using a 720 nm filter at F8 and typically focused at 80 feet or so) and am very favorably impressed by how well it performs.

I used my C/Y 50/1.7 on Kodak DCS SLR/C Pro, 5D and 1D Series without issue. I would recommend getting the Fotodiox Pro version ... I've used the Pro series from Fotidiox in 5 different flavors M645>EF, Leica R>EF, Nikon F>EF, Olympus OM>EF & C/Y>EF all with good results.
I used one of Fotodiox's "regular" F>EF, and someone else's generic OM>EF as a trial. Imo, no comparison, go with the Pro version.

I have the C/Y 1.7/50 AE version this one is hitting 5D's mirror with regular and Pro fotodiox... some say it's the fin.
