p.1 #1 · Just beat the sun...

Another few minutes and the sun would have broken the tree line and I would never have had a chance.
3 shot pano of the top falls at Humaston Brook.

Hello Mike, good timing Love the contrast of the bright water against the darker tones.

Nice - that does look like direct sunlight would kill a chance at that whole scene.

Nice pano stitch job.

Very nice, really like the details you have captured here with the pano, nice choice of Shutter Speed as well as you still have some nice detail left in the flowing water. I personally would maybe try a crop that would eliminate the small amount of sky you have showing in the upper right hand side.

p.1 #7 · Just beat the sun...

This almost looks like 2 images in one. It would probably have more impact when seen larger, but it just seems "off" to me. The right side of the image is working really well. Great exposure and detail in the water. Then the left side doesn't seem to offer much. It looks a bit underexposed and to even have a slightly different white balance (much cooler). A few tweaks in your processing could really bring this one together. If it were me, I would go back and work the left side of the image a little more, to bring up the shadows, and even out the color cast.

Thanks David, can't take credit for the stitching though.

Glad you like it Hugh.

Appreciate it Alan, the sun was coming up directly behind me and would have really "brightened" things up.

Thanks Ray, I gave that crop some thought but didn't want to go too close to the top of the falls, I'll revisit when I go back for rework re: Billy's comments.

Thanks Dan, I got caught short so maybe just a bit earlier next time.

Appreciate the feedback Billy, I'll have to go over this one again. The left side may be tough as it was completely different light than the main falls but worth a go. There's actually a bit of an optical illusion in the pano too as the left hand fall is at a little more of angle to the main falls than it appears. Didn't notice so much until you got me looking.

Very nice work, Mike. The waterflow looks wonderful here, and the presence of the leaves adds a very nice touch. Looks like a lovely location. Is this in CT?

Cheers,
Ed

Thanks Ed. This is actually 15-20 minutes from Buttermilk Falls and actually a tad closer coming from Danbury.

Cool falls complex, Mike, and good work beating the harsh light.
It does seem to me like the wb changed between exposures, noticeable where the hue of the rock ledge changes about 40% or so from the left edge.
It's nice to have this so close to home....easy to return on a cloudy day
