I am practicing studio portrait. I don't have my own studio but I made use of a corner of a room. I learned some things after this shoot. I should space the subject away from the wall (the room was kind of small) to lessen shadows.
I only had a 420EX as OCF triggered by the 580EX II. I realize there are shadows but I thought they sort of work in these pictures (except maybe for the 1st one)? What do you guys/girls think?
Maybe a little more direction to the light too...looks a little flat. And consider a light modifier. The harsh shadows do go with the high key background for me.
My suggestion is to also go outside to play with the flashes. The biggest problem in this kind of white corner is that it's very difficult to have isolation between the light sources. All the walls are working as reflectors and you cannot understand in detail how the light works...
In this location you can try placing one flash on a stand behind the model with Omnibounce on top. It should help in controlling the shadows, and also in giving some depth to the model.

Hi Dave,
I'm not too familiar with light modifiers but are you referring to reflectors or soft boxes?
So far I have only two flashes and I have to keep one on the camera hot shoe as master. I ordered a wireless trigger so that I can have both of them off camera. I was thinking of having one flash pointed behind the subject and towards the background to eliminate shadows.
Where should I place my second flash? I should really have at least one more flash right?
