p.1 #1 · Question and suggestions on a domain name
Ok, I'm going with GoDaddy for my domain name (unless you know of a better company). The name of my business Memory Photography. Now the only names that aren't taken right now is....
memoryphotographystudio.com
memory-photography.com
memoryphotography.net
I'd like to stick with the .com. Now I know most suggest not to use a hyphen because people tend to forget to add it on there, and I'm afraid they'll get sent to a site with spam or other worse stuff. So I'm leaning more towards the studio one, but I wanted to know other names that I might consider out there. Thanks for the help guys.

are you already established? if not, i'd consider changing your name before i'd go with any of those domains. really generic and sort of cheesy... unless of course your name IS Memory...

Not really established yet, but I don't think my name (as I've seen other use it) has a nice ring to it to use as my business. Plus my wife helps me out so much so I don't want to use my name. I just don't think castro photography has a nice ring to it.
p.1 #6 · Question and suggestions on a domain name
didn't even necessarily mean you should use your name... but you're setting yourself up for a challenged to get noticed amongst the crowd with such a generic, old fashioned kind of name.

At least Castro Photography would be extremely memorable!
On a side note, I like #1 but I'm not a fan of the name either. I understand how you want something generic. Any ideas for this good man? I'm terrible at making up names.

what's important to you? pull from family names, culture, passions, etc.
Well the most important thing in my life is my religion and the bible, everything else comes second. I was at one time thinking of using the name Triple Cord Photography, this comes from Ecclesiastes 4:12 where it says: "And if somebody could overpower one alone, two together could make a stand against him. And a threefold cord cannot quickly be torn in two.." This means it takes a man, woman and God to make a marriage withstand time. This is my belief.
Edit: Oh and triplecordphotography.com is available.
p.1 #13 · Question and suggestions on a domain name
now you're thinking! now try to imagine all of the positive and negative responses to the name... for example
PRO: great conversation starter, "why triple cord?"
PRO: the answer to that first Q is a potentially useful hook for religious couples who share your strong faith
CON: potential turn-off that might alienate folks who don't buy into religion
CON: could make people think of umbilical cord or tripping over cords
what others can you think of?
the stronger your brand, the easier to sell yourself to potential clients. making your business name something meaningful that you can stand behind is just one way to strengthen your brand.
p.1 #14 · Question and suggestions on a domain name
Well I'm going to cater more towards Jehovah's Witnesses since that is my faith too. It makes them feel more comfortable knowing someone of the same faith. It makes for a closer relationship with my clients and we usually stay as friends. I've gotten a invitation to go back to the destination wedding I did a few years ago.
Third: You donīt need to buy the domain from your webspace provider - there are often other services which are much cheaper. Here in Germany you can get domains from around 3 a year - and just forward them to your site. So get all domains with hyphen, with space, without, whatever you can think of people typing in while they search for you.

GoDaddy is likely the cheapest, but their domain management is terrible. I use http://dyndns.com

Get ones with and without dashes if both are available and point them to the same site. We started out with one with a dash, and I managed to snag the one without when it expired.
