And yes, TK - you're absolutely right - the whites are too hot on #2. if I could post the bird exposure in #1 on #2's BG, I would have a winner.
What else should I do to clean up the hot whites? I use Aperture 2.0 - and I turned up the "Highlights" from default 0 to 28, should I go higher? I'm usually hesitant to crank things up or down too much, probably mistakenly. Or is it a white balance thing?
Both shots were taken within a minute or two, so I left my camera settings the same. But clearly the light was working differently in #2.
Excellent exposures and two very nice backgrounds and reflections. I'd say I like the 2nd the better of the two and can overlook the slightly hot whites on that one when taken as a whole.
