Is anybody using this lens yet and if so what do you think of it. How does it stack up against the 24-70L?
I haven't seen any reviews from this lens around on the web.
Just interested as there was alot of interest when it was announced .
I'm not buying as I'm now happy with my 24-105L after my 28-70L went bad on me but I'm just curious why more hasn't been said about the new sigma.
Maybe its because its £779 over here in the UK?
I've seen several reviews now and they are mostly very +ve, regarding it the equal of even the new Nikon 24-70 and Sony Zeiss 24-70. One reason I've not bought one is I'm hoping Canon release a 24-70L II IS, but if this does not eventuate I'd grab one.
I tried one last winter at the Sigma booth at the local camera show. You would think they would make sure that the thing actually focussed properly on a Canon body. It didn't on mine.

+1. I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about this lens, though I haven't used it for myself yet. If a new 24-70L doesn't surface this spring I will likely pick up both the Sigma and the current L to test them head to head...hopefully I'll get a good copy of each--a shot in the dark, I know.
Just in case anyone speaks Chinese... http://review.fengniao.com/123/1231810.html
If not, the sample images speak pretty well for themselves, although I'm not sure how many samples were tested (I'd assume one of each)
The lenses were loan copies from Canon and Sigma, and it's probably one of each.
In Lightrule comparison of the older Sigma he claim that it's sharper than the Canon and the Tamron. If this Chinese review is representative of the samples out there, then wow, Sigma did it again like the 50/1.4.
I have used the older Sigma, it is good optically. And so are the 10-20 and 18-125, but all of them front focus at wide angle setting, for the 10-20 even after Sigma "fixed" it. I have now given up on Sigma zooms. If this lens turns out to be really great, I hope Sigma figured out the focusing part (but it's hard for me to be optimistic).
