p.1 #1 · Vacated Mexican beach C&C

Here are a couple from Mexico shortly after swine flu hit. The first one illustrates the drop in tourism. C&C please!

I think the first one has the most promise.
The empty beach in the middle of the day is unique these days
and could make a calender shot.
But I would straighten your horizon as its several degrees tilted.

I like them both! i like number 2 a lot more, but here is some C&C

# 1 lacks a defined subject, looks crooked, and the sand seems a little blown out. I would maybe move closer to the trees as well, as it seems like they would add to the picture if there were more of them in it. It really is a beautiful shot though. very peaceful without the people. If there was something in the sand though (not necessarily a person), i think it would add a lot to the photo.

# 2 is a really cool shot. I love the angle. the stairs are really interesting and i like the way they twist around. I would darken the sand and boards of the stairs/walkway a little bit (actually, it may just be my monitor (same with number 1), so if it looks good on yours/other peoples, then keep it how it is). The only other thing that bothers me is that there is too much sky in the photo for my liking. i dont know if there is anything worth adding to the photo that would come from pointing the camera down, so maybe crop some off of the sky (3/4 to 1/2 is my guess) and see how it looks.

overall, i like them! if my C&C sounds harsh, please dont take it that way, they are great on their own just pointing out what i think could make them a little better! where in Mexico is number 1 shot?

In fairness, many of the beaches are dead quiet in Tulum, the only reason the second one has so many people is because it's right beside the ruins.

That said, they are beautiful beaches in Tulum aren't they? And congratulations on ignoring the overblown media hype on it all.

I stayed in tulum for just 3-4 days, but had a great time staying in a hostel just across the street from pic #1. After that, I went throughout belize and guatemala for 3 weeks.
