p.1 #1 · Assateague Island Shore Birds

Hey everyone. It's been a busy summer and I haven't been by much so thought I'd share some stuff I shot on a beautiful day back in April. All shot handheld D300 with 80-400. C&C most appreciated. Thanks for looking and have a great holiday weekend.

Looks like you are having a good summer Mick, I liked the pose in your second shot.

Thanks Rob, it's been a great summer although I haven't been shooting much Nature and Wildlife. Went out the past two nights and got eaten alive by mosquitoes. I'm going to start shooting more open water birds now that summer is here. Out on the water is about the only place you won't get chewed on around here.

Mick,

you did well with this consumer lens. It's really not fast enough for birds in flight, but you did well.

I like # 3 & 9

Thanks Peyton, I was eating sand to get that one. Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks Lil. I don't think you can get a sharper image with the 80-400 than #3, I was pretty amazed after I got done PP. I'm saving my pennies for a 300 f4 with a TC. Until then, guess I'll have to limp along with the 80-400. Interestingly, that lens has paid for itself at least 5 times over since I got it.

Thanks Ryan, it took about a half hour of laying in the sand extremely still before these little guys just forgot I was there and would get within 10 ft of me. Well worth the sand in my shorts.
