p.1 #1 · Minlota Manual Focus on Sony A 900?

Will the old Minolta manual focus lenses, such as my pristine 50mm f1.4 MC Rokkor-PG work on a Sony Alpha 900? If so, does it fit directly, or is an adapter needed?
Thanks

No, you would have to mechanically adapt the mount by removing the original mount on the lens and replacing it with a Minolta AF mount or conversion adapter such as the M42. I did this with the Minolta 58mm 1.2 when I first got my a900.

Dave,

There are three types of adapters available...I have two of the three....

1. Hong Kong Strait macro focus...you can not get infinity focus on the camera....works well unless you need infinity focus....(Don't have this one..)

2. Hong Kong adapter with a cheap lens in it....these work well...but you have a cheap piece of glass inside...(don't get plastic)...they work but the images come-out a little fuzzy sometimes...you can also get AF-Confirmation with this lens...(Mine works...with macro...the AF-Confirmation does not work at infinity..)

3. This one I love but it will turn your 50mm f1.4 into a 100mm (I think the f-stop changes by a factor of 2 so your f1.4 should be f2.8...but I have never been able to confirm this...lenses work well and perform in low light...extremely well)...this adapter is rare....!!! Minolta 2x M/A Converter 300-S for lenses shorter than 300mm...they make a 300-L too for lenses longer than 300mm....(I Love my 300-S)..(for lenses higher than f4...it starts to die-out)

I hope this helps....I have used both of these on my a900/a700/a200/a100 cameras...

Here are some links...

Thank you both very much. From what you say, I gather that the older Minolta auto focus lenses will work directly without an adapter?
Thanks again.
