along with some good afternoon light....it was one of those days where the waves would be around head high, and then out of the depths of a South Pacific Storm these Double Overhead Giants would make an appearance.....

Nice,
I was just on Oahu last week when the waves were about the same but there wasn’t any break between sets. They just kept coming and coming and coming.
I tried surfing for the first time myself and would have appreciated a little break between sets to catch my breath. I wasn't out where the bigger breaks were though.
I was there with my family and never made it out to Magic Island to shoot surfing but did shoot a little wake boarding at Sandy Beach.

Mike,
Looks like a bunch of south swells pumping out there. I'm sure there is more of your shots to come. I hope to get some time to shoot later this week in San Diego.
I just hope the marine layer and the swell direction is on.
Keep the images coming!
Michael

Michael, I wonder if you are the photographer I stopped and talked to for a few minutes, June 14th I think, on Waikiki while you were shooting some surfing lessons. I wanted to get out and attempt shooting some surfing but realized since I was on vacation the right choice was to take advantage of the time with my family.
I did stop at Sandy Beach a took a few images.

nope George, not me and "Surf Lessons", those organizations usually have their own photographer to take care of the "Visitors".
Sandy's looked pretty out of control from your great pics, just confirmed what my friends told me about Sandy's and this last swell....surprised you didn't see a ambulance hauling away another broken neck!
