If you draw an imaginary line about 1/4 of the way from the left edge, in the middle of the line you'll find what seems to be a sensor dust artifact you may wish to remove with the clone stamp. You might also consider cloning out some of the intruding objects on the right edge.
compositionally its a bit boring, i hope you dont mind, but here is the same pic i took last november that 'i think' shows how the composition could have been improved, please remember this is only my opinion
if its wrong to post other images in these threads please lmk and i will remove it
I see nothing wrong with posting an image of your own to illustrate what you wish to explain. Photography is a visual media. To attempt to explain visual concepts in only words is to demand a rich and nuanced written skill set for both the poster and reader that might yet fail to fully explain the visual ideas. The old adage "a picture is worth a thousand words" is never more true than in the explanation of pictures.
Allen: Dave's post clearly shows a better composition. Your post has too much sky, without a clear point of focus. We look at it and say, ok, what's the point, what do I look at? When you look at Dave's post, you focus right in on the balloon/globe, then the eye is drawn to the tower in the back without the distraction of the very boring hotel in the background.
Having been to Vegas myself as a novice shooter, it's easy to get paralyzed with so much visual food. Keep the composition simple, capturing one or two elements, rather than the 7 or so that are your original post.
