p.1 #1 · tellico river views

A couple of snaps from along the tellico river. Since I have this habbit of falling into waterfalls and ruining equipment and I'm still undergoing therapy for my last fall....I didn't get quite as close to the edge as I usually do because I'm still not as steady on my feet as I was before the last fall.....I'm getting braver the next time I go down and visit I'll have my Hiking poles to help me out and I wont be shooting in business casual but in clothes that can get wet

My take on the first, is that there is a bit to much FG for my liking, but I like the comp and the mood you've set up. In the second you did well in a tough lighting situation, but the lower left might need some localized shadows, looks a tiny bit dodged. The exposure for the flowing water is right-on....
Thanks for sharing.

The first doesn't work so well for me, but I love the peaceful and fresh nature of the second.

The first shot has some nice reflections but I don't see the visual hook to grab my attention to the shot. The second one works a lot better. Lots of little details that lead the viewer's focus into the scene with nice textures for the water and a nice overall exposure to keep the colors intact.

The second for me too Kevin. Very nice scene with great motion in the water. Like the comp too!

Another vote for the second one. It's a real charmer!

Good gravy, mon?!?! While I understand the 'do whatever it takes to get the shot' mentality, I think taking 'falls' quite so literally is going a little over the top! Hope your recovery is complete and quick.

I like the first better than it seems most do......though it wouldn't break my heart to see a *little* cropped off the bottom.....maybe the lowest 1/8.(?) I think that would tend to add a little more emphasis to the reflections and give it a little more 'complete' feel overall.

Would echo Zeph's comments on the second. It's a great image as is that would only be that much better with a little selective dodging/burning.

I must kind of be the odd man out. I prefer the first (with maybe the darker section taken from the bottom). The second just seem to be a little too cluttered in the center, what with the 2 bushes and the end of the down tree. Of course that's just me.

Well then, I'm odd, too!
I really like the 1st....the darkest fg could go or not, makes no matter. The image is about the reflections, imo, and I love it.
I like the 2nd, too, a very pleasing scene. The light there feels fine, maybe a little deeper shadows front left would work.

thank you everyone for your kind remarks: as for the first image....I had this idea but for some reason it just didn't translate into the image I think i'll play with the processing a bit more with that one before I file that image into the WTF file for another day. you all seem to agree that there is maybe a thread but i have not exploited the potential as of yet. Barry you guessed what i was after kudos man thank you.
Fo, it's not that i'm willing to sacrifice my body for the art of photography as some may think, it's probably a combination of two things working against me 1. i'm no longer 25 and cant scamper my body over all the rocks and flora as much as i could back then, and 2. even back then i was a bit of a klutz but it's not going to deter me one bit....lol. besides....i'm already in the planning stage to go back down to Tn next weekend and have at it again weather permitting.
oh for the love of photography and the prayer for an awesome shot.
