I think I've found a time when there's NOBODY around so I can shoot undisturbed. Washington Monument is towards the east, so this is a (close to) sunrise shot.
I'll offer this for C&C -- anything to make me better. Shot with 5D MkII and 16-35mm f/2.8 II; composite of four frames.

Excellent perspective. Surprisingly, the reflection really draws more attention to the names rather than distracting from them (and the true purpose of the memorial). Tastefully done!
Only nit pick I have is the upper right view with the sky and branches in the background. Maybe crop a little tighter at the top to remove them? I love this shot. Thanks for sharing,
