I am in the process of buying a camera and lens from someone, paying using PayPal.
If this person does not send the camera, is there any way of recovering the money?
Any past experiences?
They can guarentee up to $200. If you notice something fishy, file a claim ASAP. I've been screwed over 2 times so far. I bought an XTI for $500, I lost $300 on the deal. And to me (a college student living on his own making $12 an hour in South Florida) thats ALOT of money.
I am a college student as well, and wish to be safe about this interaction.
Is it ridiculous to send 1/2 the money, then the other 1/2 after receiving said product? I think it's fair...

Trust is the key thing here. Most people here on FM are trustworthy if they have good feedback. Although there may be some dishonest people here, there are very few if any. Just make sure the person has a good reputation before buying. I made a $1k transaction with a fellow who didn't have any feedback, he gave me his phone number and I talked to him on the phone and was comfortable buying from him, just trust your instinct, it was one of the best transactions I've had.
