After searching for some time, I landed a practically mint copy of this lens. Jim Buchanan did the conversion for me since I have two left hands and I didn't have the right tools/supplies to do it. I just got the lens back from him and I am pleased with the conversion he did . I took a few sample shots but I am a die-hard lenshood user. I could have sworn I read some place that it would take a 58mm screw in lenshood and I do have a spare one. I tried and tried to screw that on but it didn't want to go in. Later on, I discovered "57" on the lens cap. So, I assume that filter thread is indeed 57mm instead of 58mm. I couldn't find a 57mm lenshood anywhere. Apparently it is an odd size and no longer used anymore. What do you guys use as a lenshood on this baby? Any tips?
Thanks,
Joshua

It actually has 55mm threads. There are some old hoods that can be found with some patience. Look at the thread a little down the page that contains a link to a page that describes hoods for these old minolta lenses. If you are in more of a hurry you could use another 55mm threaded hood. I hope this helps.
Hi Steve,
Thank you! So, it is a 55mm thread, huh? The cap reads "57" but it is a slip on cap that goes over that. Alright, I will look up the thread you referred. Silly me, I swore it wasn't there earlier .
