This is great. It's nice to see an injured animal rehabilitated and then released back into the wild. My hats off to everyone involved.

This hits close to home....the one Eaglet from this years breeding season was removed from the nest due to Avian Pox on it's beak. I just started following the pair of adults this year. It was taken to a local wildlife center in Northern Virginia where it has been going through extensive rehabilitation....hopefully it will be able to be released.

Duane, From the DVRC where I used to do some volunteer work is a good idea of what your eaglet is up against but it has a good chance if in the right hands. As Stephanie said the other, rehabber was not very familiar with the disease. Lets hope for him and why not take him on as a Foster Parent as he means a lot to you. The centers can always use help as no help comes from any Government. To bad, they do not have GM, Ford or Chrysler in their name. heres the link

Ths wildlife center where the Eaglet is located doesn't allow foster parents....at least for the Eaglet. So three photographers (including me) decided we would sell prints of our Eagle images and donate all the profits to the wildlife center for the care of the Eaglet. Between print sales, donations, t-shirts/hoodies etc. we raised more then $10,000 for the care of the Eaglet. Alot of other things were done to raise money for the wildlife center in general and this was our way of saying thank you for what they do.

Another photographer and I are going to continue with our findraiser once the 2008/2009 nesting season begins.

Here's a link to the wildlife center if you're interested in reading about it.

Duane that is a great job you guys did for the center. It is also a great thing to have a licence Vet in charge of the eaglet as from what I read I would feel good being in his hands. Foster parents worked good at the center I helped at as I would make up 5X7 photos of the bird they were fostering to keep them up to date on their bird but it would seem to me you guys are doing the right thing.
