p.1 #1 · Pentacon 50mm F/1.8

Hey folks, im possibly looking at purchasing a Pentacon 50mm F/1.8 cheaply as it is a standard M42 mount and i dont have a super-low-light lens for my Canon 40D yet.

I have the choice of 2 - an electric one which i presume is newer and a standard version.

A few quick questions:

Anyone have this lens, is it any good?
Will i be able to AF with either, maybe dependant on adapter?
Following on from the above, if it is any good, whats the best quality adapter to get? (M42-EOS)

Cheers
Rowan

I have to think that it'll be cheap enough for you to just try it out. Some of these 50 f/1.8s are selling in the $5-10 range. (Like you can get an OM 50 f/1.8 on KEH for something crazy like $3.)

No, you will not be able to AF with it...it has no focus motor.
