These are very nice! I really like the last photo, but the crop is a little off for me, if I could change it I would move the birds head more towards the left part of the frame.

Thanks Brenton
I had the crop with the head centered, but that looked a bit too...centered, so I decided to crop it this way instead with the neck centered and the head off-center.
I liked the bend in the neck, too bad it's a bit oof
Good job on the Grey Heron and looks as if your Bigma is working great !!
Great narrative too
Nice and sharp detail on number 6.
Only Witt Pick would be that you could bring the exposure down a tad and this would bring in more detail in the whites and some of the feathers.
Is your monitor calibrated
I think you should reconsider the name to Karla or Karl instead of Carl
as for the last shot - - I would crop it so that the neck is more hugging the left side of the frame & the head ends up more towards the middle leaving more space on the right side.

Great close-ups&portraits....that's more like it what did ya do..sneak under the fence on the property?
Thanks!
I was thinking Hank the Heron, but after the bunny killer shots they are a lot less poetic to me
These were shot somewhere else
Right next to the bike path. Normally they fly away when you get near, this one didn't, guess it's his favourite spot.
Behind me was a traffic jam at the trafficlights, some annoying people tried to scare him off, but he didn't even notice
"Never seen a Heron before!?" "Kkkksssstttt! Fly away, fly fly fly!"
Heh, fools!

Ant
Thanks Ant!
Calibrated ?
I'm the annoying guy nagging about how he needs a new monitor...remember ?
Still looking, prices here are around 1000$-1200$ for a good 24", pricing is very unfair over here
The Bigma is doing better than expected
I'm about to send my D300 in for a focus check, but it might be my poor skills that are oof.

Bigma's doing a nice job for you.
Lil
Thanks Lil!
I'll try some recrops later
I'm surprised the Bigma still works, when you look in it's full of dust. It's a nasty vacuumcleaner
Sigma isn't easily contacted so I'm hoping to get it cleaned via a shop soonish
Nice weather today, hoping it's still nice tomorrow when I'm off
Nice work! I had the Bigma on a Pentax K10D before I switched over to the 40D/100-400 IS. It's a good lens though awfully noisy (no HSM on the Pentax model). The details hold pretty well in that #6 100% shot.
Nice job Sander! Glad to see you were able to get closer to this guy. I agree they look a tad bright. You captured some wonderful poses here. Oh, don't listen to Chad, our Karl looks more like a gbh, easy mistake to make!
Sander, I really like your new found friend, great name you picked for him, very manly He has some cool attitude with his inquisitive head tilts. Your crops look real good, and I think both #7 and #9 are great shots! Enjoy...............
