p.1 #1 · St Andrew's Cross, Two-tailed and a Steelblue

First one is a St Andrew's Cross spider (Argiope Keyserlingi).

Second one is a Two-tailed spider (Family Hersiliidae). What's unusual is the oversize spinnerets which are about as long as its abdomen, hence the name. The hair on the abdomen is also kinda feathery.

Last one is a Steelblue Ladybird. You can probably see why it's called that, it's blue and it's steely.

One of the most reflective insect I've ever shot, you can see the black area on the right hand side where there's no light reflected. Around 3x magnification.

I'm pretty sure all were shot with ISO200, f/13 @ 1/200.

Thanks for looking!!

Amazing critters and excellent shots! The spider in No. 1 is my favourite.

Yes it was actually quite hard but with a surprisingly simple solution... White shopping plastic bag.

Here's my previous attempt. They were shot before I got the MT-24EX. You can see how reflective they are, almost like a mirror.

Wow, LOVE the portrait of the ladybird! Never had any idea they could look like that. Seen mostly black ones but she is a beaut! Well done series.

Awesome shots, I'd love to see more of the Two-tailed spider if you ever get the chance. Seems interesting.
