It is pretty and intereseting (picking a flower in the middle to be in focus sandwhiched between to oof is interesting). The only suggestion I have is that the it would be better if the flowers were a bit higher in the frame and I am not sure the insect adds to the picture. Is it about the insect or the flower, if insect bigger, if flowers then bug distracting.

I am being picky.

I'm thinking this: try cropping out the left, OOF flower, leaving just the green sprig.

Since this is the C&C forum specifically:

I think you missed the focus just a hair. Tough with that shallow a DOF, but still, the 135L is capable of more than that.

Were you using extension tubes? If so, your DOF would be painfully thin and any wind movement could cost you here. If not, then you might be just inside the lens's MFD.

I'm just guessing.

How the heck DID you get that much isolation at f/8?

Thanks guys:
The hard part was getting the Bee to pose and my wife wanted it for her desktop so it's an 8 x 12.
I did a doubletake when I saw F8 and at 1/80th it could be me, a gentle breeze, the MFD or a little bit of all three.
Basiclly, it was a lucky shot.
Thanks for commenting.
