Has anyone tried out Google's new web browser Chrome? It's pretty slick. Significantly faster than IE. Oh, and there's built-in real time spell check; pretty handy for us FMers.
I've spent a little time with it ... haven't formed any conclusions yet. I miss some of my plug-ins for examining EXIF and other purposes. I haven't checked ... is it color managed?
The install splatters Chrome everywhere in the system, hateful to uninstall. On some laptops it will scroll down but not back up. run a registry cleaner after you uninstall and see how much crap it has left behind after uninstall. Heard some good things and some bad things about.
Check out the EULA. They're supposedly changing it, but ANYTHING you create while using Chrome is owned by google. Seriously. It's hilarious. That blog you just wrote? Google property.

Nope, it is even worse, according to what I did read!
Apparently, if you browse something (even if you do not own a copyright on it) becomes google property... So, if you post a picture on FM and another member browses your thread using Chrome...

Chrome uses the same webkit engine developed by Apple and used in Safari, (running in their computers and iphone), so you're not really missing anything.
For a beta it's actually pretty good. I've been using it non-stop since it was released and it's been very stable and consistant in memory usage.
Integration with standard third party plug-ins, (PDF, Windows Media Player, Quicktime, etc. etc.) work quite well - better in most instances than IE and Firefox.
Seems like a good start. Lets see what comes out with plug in and add-ons.

Chrome does introduce new concepts in control and managment, which are sorely needed with browsers.
If interested, take a look at their description of Chrome presented in comic book format. It's easy to follow and quite informative. Once you go through it you'll realize Google has basically applied the principles of application and memory management similar to a well designed operating system. And that's where it outshines Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Firefox has had real time spell check for a while now. Very useful feature, but not really innovative (probably one of the things Google lifted from Firefox/Mozilla)
