Honestly, maybe a difference crop (a real close up one), it just doesn't work for me. sorry Gavin

Some issues I found:

a) The image isn't sharp (mis-focus? camerashake? shutter speed too slow?)
b) The b&w could be punchier - more contrast?
c) The background is too bright leading to overexposure (the right subject's forehead disappears into the background)
d) The composition could do with some cropping, personally I'd reshoot it a lot closer as glyons suggested.
e) I'm not sure if this was spontaneous or staged, but: even though the expressions of both subjects are good - I don't think they compliment each other.

I don't mean to come across as harsh - that's just my $0.02

No worries here, harsh is what I come to this forum for. I don't ever understand when people worry about people being "Harsh" this isn't a support group.

This was a candid taken on a company appreciation whale watching cruise in Juneau, Alaska.
