First off, had a good look through the forums, but wasn't sure where to post these, so apologies if these are in the wrong place. They didn't fit into any of the subject matter forums really.
I haven't posted images on FM before, so please, go easy on me!
Anywhoo, I managed to get down to the trade day on Tuesday and saw pretty much the entire flying display. Sadly I was assisting on a studio shoot in London on Monday so I am extremely gutted to say I missed the Raptor. A ding-dang-deal! Anyways, some photos for you all:
Hope that isn't too many. Just some general thoughts would be good. It's hard to pick the favourites. There is one standout for me, but I'd already cut those 30 down from 900 frames!

Cheers for the thoughts on this one Scott. Much appreciated. I was going for a silhouette with number 2 but I take the point, and as for 7... well, that was a dead photo that I tried to make 'interesting' in post!
I know that the rule of thumb with aircraft is space for them to fly into, but I find that without reference points in the sky, clouds or backgrounds (in low flight) then a more centralised crop works better, but of course personal opinion. I cropped a few of the Hornet shots into near pano's with the hornet entering from left or right. Worked sometimes, but othertimes, useless!

Nice shots, Tony. Being an airshow lover I like all of these, and they all work for me. It's hard to get shots with impact that don't simply look like run-of-the-mill flight shots, and I think you've got some nice shots with impact. I happen to like the prop-plane shot from behind, as you've gotten an interesting view with pretty good prop-blur. The Super Hornet shots are great. We've got a good show coming up here in the midwest portion of the US in a couple of weeks (Indianapolis, Indiana) and the Raptor is scheduled to fly. I hope the weather is good for us and that I can get some good shots of it. Nice job with these! I plan to check out your complete gallery.
Thanks for your thoughts Andy. I have to say, I disagree with Scott on the studying an image to understand it thing. The 27J was shot as it is seen, from behind while it was performing a knife edge turn. Still, each to their own and I appreciate the point being made. Can't wait to see the Raptor photos you take - best of luck with it mate.

I'm no airshow excerpt, but I know what I like, and this is a great collection of shots.
I think they show a more diverse shooting style than most of the aircraft shots that I have seen - especially #2,4 & 7.
Unlike Scott, my favorite is probably #4, just because it's unusual. Just because a photo makes you think, doesn't make it bad, it's actually the contrary.:-)

You've got some good shots here. The second really stands out to me. The silhouette works really well, the dark of the plane balances the dark lower right corner, the texture of the clouds is nice, and the attitude of the plane really conveys a feeling of power and speed. It's also a very different look than the typical aircraft photographs that I've seen, which earns a few extra bonus points from me.
