Not keen on the toning, some eye contact would have made this delightful.

I agree with alan, I didn't care for the toning, and as for eye contact... I was almost expecting to see him looking at a wand as if (ok, now how do I use this thing)...

Others have commented on the pose. A bit modest for (even) a young wizard.

I appreciate the honest feedback. Personally, I liked the toning. What makes a tone appropriate? I acknowledge that the answer to this question is as varied as the different forms of photography! Rarely do I tone my pictures because I have yet to find a solution that works for me or is well received.

The hardest part was keeping this little guy in the frame. He moved all over the place! My other images are in color.

Here is one of the images where I did have eye contact: http://www.ironwoodphoto.com/img/v1/p928937862-4.jpg (note there are some marks on the wall, which I have not touched out yet). Unfortunately, the image is a bit soft around the eyes and I cropped his hat wrong!

I like to think that he is contemplating how to turn the photographer into a toad!

I like this version with the eye contact, makes him look like a mischievous wizard now

Alan... he is more of an imp than a wizard. Thanks, BLR

Can I say that I actually dig the first shot more than the second. The first I suppose is modest, but its also slightly innocently mischievous.
