Got lucky last weekend when I stumbled across a woodpecker going in and out of a tree stump, from a distance I did'nt realise until I looked through my 500 that they had the Goods for the kids, Hope knowone gets grossed out, Wpoodpeckers must really like these, YUK!
I got my first woodpeckers the other day. But with a 300mm & I seriously doubt I'll get anything out of them due to distance. But I found a nest as well so maybe I'll be lucky the next time...

Thanks Lil, good luck with your nest, they are a lot of fun to watch.
Looks like a family of Ladder-backed woodpeckers for you That should be fun to watch and photograph. Nice shots, not too fond of the snacks but they must know best.

Steve, this is really a nice (behavior) series (as fwyflyr pointed out). The colors are great and images nice and sharp. Great stuff!
