I'm interested to hear the opinions on whats the best as well.
Right now I'm using Promasters LCD screen protectors. Came with 4 self adhesive films that fit up to 4" LCD's and you can cut to size. Seem to be working well. At $5 it doesnt cost much.
They're all pretty much the same. You do not actually need one unless having one makes you feel safer. The cost of replacing the LCD screen is pretty cheap and easy to do, just purchase the part from Canon.

The "LCD" that you want to protect _is_ a protective cover in itself. Replacement cost is on the order of ten bucks, should you manage to scratch it - which takes some effort!
