Nikon D3, Zeiss 100mm f2 Makro-planer @ 200 iso, f2.0

Before the bitter Freeze thank goodness. Two years in a row, freeze takes out my tulip tree blooms.

Pretty pink, the white edges define the petals nicely. Sorry to hear about the freeze, at least you have a beautiful memory here.

Thanks Preston!

Karl, the white edge to me keeps it from being to soft and OOF. the thin depth of field works with that edge.

Here's another with a larger view:

it is a tulip tree I think guys. It is definitely not a standard magnolia. Tulip tree is not the correct technical name. That escapes me. Monkey may be right.

Again if magnolia, it's not your standard one. Leaves are smaller, does not have "pods", does not shed all year long like a magnolia. Believe me, I had one of those for a while, lol.

These are very common in Sydney and my neighbour has one. These are called Magnolia X soulangiana cultivar extinus. Note that tulip trees are actually in the magnoliacea family.
