p.1 #1 · Bludomain Shopping cart system, any experiences with them?

We are recently thinking of upgrading our site and including some sort of shopping cart. I would love to have a red cart system, but I just don't have the money for it. Since our site is hosted with bludomain, we're thinking of maybe just dishing out the $200 and getting their shopping cart addition. Anyone have any experiences or complaints they would like to share? I was just curious about some questions. Since bludomain takes a week to respond, I was hoping some of the members may be able to shed some light faster on this matter. Does it offer the freedom to offer whatever size and price per print like many other programs? How secure is the password protected client section? Any idea how many client gallery can be uploaded?

If anyone has it running on their site, and wouldn't mind letting me view it to get an idea, I would really appreciate it.

I see the BD shopping cart as a VERY limited system. Only some products can be added to cart. Package system is very weak. No option for coupons, discounts, expiration dates, no collecting of emails, etc.

It's a basic flash based that can handle little. I would highly look into something else. ProofBuddy serves me well. PikPic is the TopDog (not to mention that WHCC bought the company).

hmm... interesting. Thanks for the suggestions, I will look more into these companies. I mean if there are other programs that can integrate with our site, and not cost an arm and a leg, I wouldn't mind getting it.

Wow, I didn't know that. I'll have to look into this.

Sahid, other programs can integreate with your site, however IMO they cost an arm and a leg.

I have the 'shopping' cart for my s ystem and I like it.

I have like 6 prints with low price ranges, and I have an 'album selection' option that costs 0, it will allow the client to pick which images she wants in her album. My site is brand new so it hasn't been used yet, but my testing I am satisfied with the results.

Thanks,

-Kelly

If you know Flash, you can build your own shopping cart system into your site. I'm not 100% sure, but wouldn't be surprised if Blu's is based on this:

http://anyrd.anyrd.com/home.html#ppcc

$25...plus the $8 needed to save cart contents between visits (a major limitation of the BD shopping cart). We're building the shopping cart for our new site using this...again, you need to know Flash reasonably well (not developer well).

Photocart. It's not as expensive as Redcart or Pickpic.

Wow... great find. My partner is actually a web developer, so we may be able to customize one for a fraction of the cost. Thanks a lot for the link.

No problem - I'd love to see your implementation when you get done with it. We should have ours ready in the next month or so.
