It's good design and very hip with the times however I'm not confident it will be timeless. Less is more really works when designing an album. Looks like you have great PS skills, I'd just tone it down.
Beautifully done. However they do look like a brochure more than an album (to me) - there's not much sense of the actual day or people coming through - I just see the layouts as a whole. A lot of the design elements seem quite random too - especially in number 3.
One thing that I learned at WPPI during the album competition was that the judges frowned on text on every page in one album. I know these are just a few of your samples, but I'd keep from putting text on every page. But hey I think they look great....besides what do I know?....lol
+1 on the busyness of the album design
+1 on "you have mad Photoshop skills"
We can argue both, but there has to be a balance. While you have incredible design ingenuity and PS skills, you have to remember one key element:
Photoshop layouts and designs should be there to enhance the image, not override them with an overwhelming presence. You need to let the pictures tell the story, not let the design distract attention from them.
Incredible design skills...Absolutely beautiful, very clean...just strike a balance.
I really like your album design. This is very much like my style. If your brides like it, that's what matters. My only suggestions are on the first one, I don't like the tranparent blocks and the right page of number 3 seems a little busy. Otherwise, it looks terrific to me.
I really like the layout. For competition these days, this style of layout scores vary well. As far as brides go, it won't be every brides cup of tea but those brides who like this style will seek you out just because of it
My only concern with this style is that the large number of graphic elements on the spread can sometimes overwhelm your visual statement and make for a busy photo; sometimes less is better
too much to read and too many added in graphic flowers and lines can create confusion for the viewer; find a balance is what is crucial to making this style work
Thanks for sharing your beautiful work! Good Luck!
its too much. Remember that people are wanting albums to look at pictures...not cool design. I love your photoshopping, but i think that it has to be something that the bride requests because it does look like a brochure. Im not knocking you, I actually think it looks great! But just remember the main reason for even designing the album.
I thought the 2nd spread was one of the best I'd ever seen .. and much the same for the 5th spread. A perfect blend of design.
But the rest of the pages are a little busy for my (North American) taste .. I do realize that Asian taste in photography and design are different from ours. I'm sure your brides love the albums.
You have some awesome design skills.
Can I ask how you did the flowers, etc? .. seems to be a PS brush?
