Well I get a new lens and the stars align, I had an oppertunity to shoot brants with the sun shining, well shining through high clouds. What a difference from the dull grey I always see them in. Spring is here!

Harsha, yes it is. Brants are a type of geese. They stop by this area during their migration. Thanks for the kind words.

Beautiful shots, Tim!! I tried all last summer, and didn't get a single decent duck shot. You definitely have the knack!

Very nice set, Tim. those whites and blacks aren't easy to expose, but you did a very good job. Very nice detail as well. # 1 is my favorite.

Frank, your time will come. It isn't easy but once you get it that's it. PM me if you have questions.

Lil my dear! Thanks for the kind words. If I may be so bold, there isn't anything wrong with the horizon in 1, yes that is something I am awful at but not this time.
These were shot on a bay, the swells were maybe 18 inches or so, the goose is just starting to slide down the back of a swell. I'm sure if you look carefully you can see that.

Thanks for trying to bust me, please do every chance you get. I want to learn from others eyes as well as mine.

Thanks to you all,

Tim

Very Nice Tim,

I shot some Brandts today too. But they were pretty far out and not as good as yours. Harsh Bright Light and waay to far away. I hung out for about 4 hours hoping they'd come further in but NO CHANCE !!

Very well done > Great expsosures > Spot on old chap

Tim - - that's what I get for looking at the shots in daylight. Now - - in the middle of the night I can see what you mean. This is what I get for having shot predominantly in still water for a few years. I have to admit I could not for the life of me figure how you would have made such a mistake.....

OK, first up - - good for you to braze such weather & now I'll revise my decision & place # 1 as my number one & # 2 as my number two.

Thanks for explaining it to me & not getting upset. Shows that I need to pay more attention.

Great job Tim

Lil

You have to talk real nice to them to get them to come in close.

I did feel kind of like a fool, hiding behind rocks or just sitting and waiting for these guys. They were shot in a pretty popular park, there were a lot of people around. They must have thought that bird nerd needs to get life.

Thanks my friend.

Thanks Nello! It was nice yesterday but today is raining. No problem, it gives me time to PP what I shot yesterday. (300+ shots) Yeah that duck was charging me, I had to get out of there fast.

Lil, no problem at all. Please critique me anytime, that's how we learn! I will never get upset at someone for helping me out.

Thanks for the kind words and for picking 1.

I have beeen trying to get a decent shot of one of these for two weeks. I did not know their name was Brandts, thanks. They are very wild, I am not used to photographing at the Bay where the birds that come in are not used to people. I guess I need a longer lens.

Oh and that Mallard looks like he means business!! Great job.

noelle, these guys are not fond of people. I am lucky, where I am their food is close to shore so they have to come in. I was able to get pretty close to them, maybe 50 feet. I sat still, hid behind rocks and such. Patience paid off. Thanks for the kind words. That mallard is a killer.

They must have thought that bird nerd needs to get life.

That is how I fealt today trying to capture the Brandts. No such luck they were really spooked by all the people near the bay.

Tim, can I ask you about your post processing and if you need to sharpen how, and how much?
