Just started processing a shoot with Chelsey today....It was a horribly overcast day -- very dark clouds. We are debating doing a re-shoot, but I wanted to see how these were going to turn out. Only one processed so far. What do you think?
(just a little background -- this is a new look for me. i prefer the evening sun, not necessarily to light the model, but to light portions of the frame...background, hair, surroundings, etc so this was a little different me.)
The lighting may be a blessing. It's quite even – especially on the model. Like a giant softbox. In PS try a little shadow/highlight. Maybe 10-20 of each. Then to levels and adjustments on both ends. Bring a little edge to it. That will amp up those greens a little. She's has contrast with her hair and skin that is not blown out by harsh sun. Good detail on her. With the look and tude she has, a little amp up with the above adjustment might make this into a very cool shot. If vignette as a little edge, it's OK.
I would also experiment with cropping. Your camera and settings should be able to handle it. The photo might look good as a long horizontal with a lot of the sky cropped to her head. Maybe almost to the same distance as the feet to edge.
Imagine a wide print on a wall that will take a extra horizontal shot. Nice frame. Some attitude in the processing. A little tension and edge. Push it a little. Feel good about it. Hmm.
