hey mate, been watching your shots alot lately and loving the mp-e it's an excelent lens, im getting one soon to, to replace my 100mm canon macro which is nothing compaired to the mpe! lol
Fabulous light control on these, I really like the amount of DOF you have picked on them. Excellent detail, they are all great shots. Very nice Brian V. !
Teaser- yes the proboscis adds rather to the interest of these - they are amazing structurs especially as they are fully collapsable
The1 - The MPE-65 is a wonderful lens but I don't think you should replace your 100mm macro lens - I still use my sigma 105mm roughly half the time for shots from less than 1:1 upto 1.5:1. Sometimes you just cannot frame the subject with it's minimum mag of 1:1.
Karl some of these shots are focus stacked (all except #1) to increase the DOF a bit.
Is their anything you can do about moire in the eyes? I get that a lot when I manage to get clear sharp eye shots. Or is it just when resizing for web. Is it there in the full res shots?

Thanks PP - the moire is partially to do with re-sizing but you do get it on the full res pics until you enlarge them a bit. Just checked the original of #1 in PS -you get the moire effect at 33% and below display size- disappears at 50% or higher. Think I'm too used to seeing it and it doesn't bother me- just tells me there is good eye detail there. I'll post a 100% crop of #1 in a while.

I am glad you asked that question, been wondering myself, so thanks and now I know too!
