p.1 #1 · HDR Barn

Here's an HDR image I shot over the weekend. C&C would be greatly appreciated.

Nice shot, I love the drama in the sky, sitting above the very weathered barn, still beating down on it.

I'd be interested to see it in Black & White with some really punchy contrast.

I'd like to get into HDR myself, and this is the kind of effect I'd like to get. Do you mind sharing what software and technique you use?

Cheers,
Ross

Hey Glenn,

Very cool. Though the clouds have turned a bit blue, the shot looks interesting.

Why the HDR on this one though? It wouldn't appear that lack of dynamic range would have been an issue on this one.

Now there's a rickety old barn after my own heart! I love it! Really cool!
I like your treatment on the barn and land, but, as Jim mentioned, the sky looks a very little over-cooked. Not bad, though!

p.1 #6 · HDR Barn

Thanks to all for the comments. I used HDR on this image to capture more detail in the clouds/highlights. I used a program called Dynamic Photo HDR. It is comprised of 5 exposures, one stop apart: -2, -1, 0, +1, +2. Although the program works pretty good I am not happy with the level of control it provides at various stages. Can't zoom in while applying tone mapping, doesn't leave the image in seperate layers, etc.. Does anyone know of an HDR program that includes these features?

Here's a B&W from the same series:
It was really too windy to be trying HDR. You will see ghosting in the grass surrounding the barn and the clouds in both shots would have been sharper if it was a calmer day. Thanks for all the observations.

Hey Glenn,

Pretty cool B&W of the barn. That is a cool angle you got on it. Interesting how it doesn't seem that large in the color version, but with the angle you got here in the B&W it seems like it could be 100 ft tall!

Great photo's. It looks similar to a barn near my home in N. Texas. Possibly a coincidence ?

Jim, you're not the first person to tell me that.

Randy, the barn is in western Missouri just south of Rich Hill on 71 hwy.

That second shot is stellar! Ghosting issues aside, that's a really wonderful capture!
