I have been doing photo shoots with models under TFCD basis. Normally I have a model release for the model to sign and everything works great.
A new model that I will be doing a shoot with under TFCD basis is bringing a friend who owns a fancy car. The model wants me to take pictures with her friend's car and my concern is how to deal with this. Her friend does not have a problem allowing me to take the pictures of his car and the model.
Where do I find a Photo Shoot Car Release form?
Is there such a thing?
The car owner will not be in the pictures so my concern is to have the car owner sign something that allows me to use the pics from this shoot on my portfolio. The model will be covered with the normal model release form that I always use.
Any help, suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
technically, if you shoot the car in a public place, and you have no intention of selling the images for commercial use, then you really don't need a release on the car ... even a custom car ... if it is for portfolio use only
What more assistance do you need? As Duncan said, if you feel you need a release for the car, then you want a property release. Period.
ASMP has one, I believe SAA has one, Photoshelter Collection has one, and there are countless others from a myriad of sources listed on Google. Pick one you like, fill in the blanks, Bob's your uncle.
Why not have the car owner sign a release. I don't know if NinaS is correct, as the car is part of a photo shoot and not really in a public place, and furthermore if it is a custom car there is more need for a release than if it is a stock Corvette or Ferrari, etc.
Well I ended up doing the shoot and since I couldn't find the proper car release I just had the owner of the car sign a model release, I just change the title from "Model Release" to "Car Release", got his vin number and his ID#, he signed it and I was done.
I need to find the correct release for this type of shoot and so far I have not found one yet. No, I'm not lazy I just have not found one online, I did looked but none say car release.
About the pics, well this was my first time using my AB1600 and the Vagabond II, the it was very windy and the model and I had tearing eyes at times, oh and it was cold too! So we made the best of it and I'm not too happy with the pics but live and learn.
What's your problem with using a property release? This is exactly the kind of situation that they're intended for. Any decent property release has a space to fill in with a description of the property in question, and you'd just write in the unique description or identifiers for it. Write in the make, model, year, color, VIN, whatever and have the owner sign it. Done.
Why would anyone draw up a car-specific release when property releases are intended for exactly this kind of umbrella usage? Next you'll need a house release, dog release, sneaker release, kitchen table release and jeans I took off last night and left on the bedroom floor release.
I do not have a problem using a property release I just can't find one.
bottom line is.... I've never done this before so I was asking for specific information and I was not able to find it in time so I did the best I could.
I guess people assumed that I know this but in reality I don't that's why I asked the question and for help.
Thanks anyway for trying to help, really appreciated.
What are you searching for? I threw "photography property release" at Google and got several good hits in the first couple of pages, more than enough to work with.
